Bar Stools: Handy Accent Pieces

Whether you have a bar or not, it’s nice to have two to four bar stools around. They are nice at a bar, and they provide the always-necessary extra seating. A stool is also nice when you’re working at a kitchen counter, and there’s a trend incontemporary designtoward higher tables, which use tall chairs or bar stools instead of dining chairs.

Bar stools can be used to display things on, or as small tables. They fit in small places where a chair will not. You can place a bar stool just outside the front door or just inside the entryway so that people have a place to sit while they remove their shoes. If a household member is sick or weak, you can even put a waterproof bar stool in the shower for them to sit on.

One small caution to take when buying modern bar stools is to make sure you either get adjustable stools, or that you get stools that are the right height. Bar stools are used in many different ways that they are available in several different heights. You want to leave 12-14 inches of space between the top of the bar stool and the bottom of the surface you’re using it at.

Bar stools come in just about any design or color you can think of. You can get formal-looking tall wooden chairs, brightly colored plastic bar stools with fluid lines, or simple brushed metal bar stools. Some bar stools have organic shapes, likemushrooms and balls, and some have purely industrial lines.

The perfect bar stool may add the finishing touch to a room, the accent piece that completes the look.
